Onko-Medi-Cover care

Oncological patients are treated with special care at Medicover. The Onko-Medi-Cover program was launched especially for them. Its main goal is to improve the quality of care and streamline the course of diagnosis and treatment of patients with suspected or diagnosed cancer. We offer them coordinated care, which speeds up the diagnostic process and treatment, and we also indicate reference facilities in the public sector that take care of oncology patients. At Medicover, each such patient receives the help of a coordinator.

What does coordinated oncological care look like at Medicover?

The role of the coordinator

Coordinates examinations and medical consultations needed to make a final diagnosis.
Supports and instructs the patient on how and where to obtain a DiLO card (Diagnostics and Oncological Treatment) under the National Health Fund.
Refers the patient to a Primary Health Care (POZ) facility where the attending physician can set up a DiLO card.
Shows the patient a list of reference facilities specializing in the treatment of specific types of cancer.
Arranges appointments with a psychologist available as part of the subscription or FFS (if not included in the subscription) for patients who require this type of support.


Contacts the patient who received a referral for oncological diagnostics coordination within 24 hours of receiving the referral	It supports in accelerating the implementation of tests and/or consultations needed to make a diagnosis	It is an additional link between the doctor and the patient

He supports with medical knowledge at every stage of the process	Indicates a list of reference facilities specializing in the treatment of a given cancer	It tells you how to navigate in the public health care system, e.g. how to get a DILO card efficiently

It indicates the possibilities of diagnostics and treatment within the Medicover group	If necessary, he organizes psychological support	Confirms with the patient the start of treatment
