About the Department

The Internal Medicine Ward of the Medicover Hospital, headed by Mieczysław Kopacz, MD, PhD, provides access to a wide range of medical services with particular emphasis on the diagnosis and treatment of internal diseases.

We are part of a modern, private multidisciplinary hospital with the state-of-the-art medical equipment and modern Intensive Care Unit. We ensure the highest quality of medical services and safety at every stage of the diagnosis process and treatment. Patients do not have to wait to be admitted to the Ward and are given professional care from the very first moments of their stay.

The Department cooperates closely with the hospital’s Diagnostic Centre which provides patients with access to modern, multi-specialist laboratory and imaging tests. The SYNEVO laboratory operates on the premises of the Hospital and performs a wide range of specialist tests, including genetic tests. We have top-class diagnostic imaging equipment – X-ray, magnetic resonance and CT scanner. We have a modern Endoscopy Unit in which we perform all gastrointestinal tract (gastroscopy and colonoscopy) and bronchial tree (bronchoscopy) procedures.

Patients can be monitored continuously both by wireless telemetry (which is offered only by a few centres in Poland) and in the intensive care environment.

The team of doctors led by Mieczysław Kopacz, MD, PhD, consists of internal medicine specialists and endocrinologist. If necessary, the diagnosis and treatment process is consulted with specialists from other Departments of the Hospital, e.g. with urology, cardiology, surgery, laryngology and gynaecology specialists.

We ensure the highest quality of medical services and safety at every stage of the diagnosis process and treatment. Our advantage is close cooperation with a pharmacologist and clinical pharmacist, which means increased supervision of possible drug interactions.

In the Ward, there are beds in high-standard rooms. Patients are offered comfortable single and double rooms, as well as family rooms and suites.

We also provide services under health insurance, including AP Companies, Henner, Bupa, MSH International, Euro Center, Tricare, GBG and Cigna.

Services

We encourage you to use services provided by our Internal Medicine Ward if:

  • you are looking for professional help but cannot wait to be admitted to a public hospital;
  • you want to provide your parents with the best medical care;
  • you need to have quick and professional diagnostic tests/examinations.

The Internal Medicine Ward ensures short-term and complete diagnosis and treatment of internal diseases, including the following:

  • gastrointestinal diseases;
  • metabolic diseases;
  • certain haematological conditions, e.g. anaemia;
  • respiratory diseases;
  • certain neurological conditions;
  • sleep apnoea;
  • old age diseases.

 Examples of provided care services:

Lower respiratory tract infections, diagnostic tests/examinations and treatment – usually 7 to 12 days of stay:

  • pneumonia;
  • bronchitis;
  • exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Other respiratory infections and bronchial asthma – usually from 3 to 7 days of stay

Gastrointestinal system, diagnostic tests/examinations and treatment – usually 4 to 6 days of stay:

  • diarrhoea and gastroenteritis probably caused by an infection;
  • acute pancreatitis;
  • nausea and vomiting;
  • abdominal pain.

Urinary tract – usually from 4 to 7 days of stay.

The Internal Medicine Department has extensive experience in caring for the elderly for whom it is particularly difficult to obtain adequate medical assistance when their health deteriorates due to the progression of the pre-existing disease or a new one. This includes the following situations:

  • deterioration of health due to unknown cause;
  • abnormal results of check-up blood tests – impossible to be explained on an outpatient basis (when tests are not available or when it is difficult for the patient to get on their own to the outpatient clinic to have necessary tests);
  • a new condition which has been diagnosed in the outpatient clinic and which cannot be treated in the outpatient care setting.

During your appointment, the doctor will discuss your health, inform you about treatment methods and risks associated with the treatment. They will make, in consultation with you, a decision on the necessary tests/examinations, procedures and the course of hospitalisation.

You can make an appointment for a qualification visit to a selected specialist in the Medicover Hospital’s Consultation Centre by calling 500 900 900.

Take your previous test/examination results and a referral to hospital (if you have one) with you.
