Examination with contact lens fitting

Want to wear contact lenses but don't know if it's for you? You have astigmatism and feel that your glasses are limiting your activities? Or perhaps you need some correction for reading but you’re still young, so you don't want to wear glasses? The Medicover Optyk team members are  here to help!

We will perform a full examination with fitting of soft contact lenses for all vision impairments: near-sightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, or presbyopia.

Such fitting takes place in Medicover Optyk showrooms under the supervision of experienced specialists - optometrists. They are the ones who will care about your comfort and health, fitting lenses that are compatible with your lifestyle, vision impairment or eye structure, and teaching you how to take care of your lenses properly.

Remember - don’t fit contact lenses yourself! In addition to the power, lenses have many other parameters that also affect comfort and safety of use, such as diameter, base curvature, or material which they are made from. What’s more, each lens sits one way on the eyes of one person and another way on the eyes of another person. A lens may be comfortable and fit properly for one, while for another it may be too tight/loose causing some eye irritation.

This is why you should have your lens fitting done by a professional.

What does an examination look like?

The examination itself requires no special preparation other than your desire to wear lenses, and is divided into 3 stages - each taking place during a separate appointment:

      • On your first visit, your optometrist will take a detailed history of your motivation for wearing lenses, your lifestyle, and your visual history. They perform a comprehensive examination of vision impairment and examine the anterior segment of the eye in a slit lamp. It is also at this appointment that your eye professional will determine if you can wear contact lenses.

      • On the second appointment, you will have the contact lenses fitted, their fit checked, and the quality and comfort of vision verified. At this stage, your optometrist will teach you how to put your contact lenses in and take them out, how to look after them and what to do to make sure they are as healthy as possible for you. If everything goes well, you will receive a pack of trial lenses to test at home.

      • The last but also the most important stage - a check-up. After a few days show up for a contact lens check-up where your eye care professional will be able to assess the fit of your lenses after a few hours of wearing and whether the lens is causing any irritation to your eye without causing pain. Then you will also be able to talk about your experiences with the lenses and assess whether they are performing as you want them to.

Once you've been successfully fitted, visit us once a year for a check-up to make sure your lenses are right for you and correct your vision impairment.
