In the angiographic laboratory we perform, inter alia, angioplasty (balloon angioplasty). The procedure consists in expanding the stenosed place in a coronary artery and restoration of normal blood circulation in the affected artery.
This is obtained by introduction of a thin balloon placed at the end of a catheter to the stenosed section of a vessel. The balloon, filled with high-pressure liquid, expands and widens the stenosed place. In order to maintain a good effect, a vascular stent is implanted in the stenosed spot.
