of Medicover OnLine – the Medicover Sp. z o. o. mobile app


This document features the description of how we protect the privacy of users of Medicover OnLine – the mobile app provided by Medicover Sp. z o. o. (hereinafter referred to as the “App”).

The App can be used on mobile devices that use the following operation systems:

  • iOS;
  • Android with Google Mobile Services (GMS);
  • Android with Huawei Mobile Services (HMS).

I. What types of data do we collect and for how long do we store them?

Once you download the App and run it for the first time, we receive a notification. At this point, we do not store any data on your device.

a) Information stored on your device

After you log in to your patient account in the App, your Card number may be stored on your device, but only if you select the option to remember this number.

In addition, the file supporting the App stores information relating to the App’s settings and your preferences regarding its use, e.g. in respect of the language used on your device, information on reading documents in the App, a timestamp for events from your calendar, a unique identifier generated for biometric login (only if you choose this option) or the five specialties most recently selected in the specialty finder.

The above data may be deleted from your device when you uninstall the App or use the option to clear the App’s data from your device’s cache.

Moreover, you can use the App to download data such as results of tests and examinations as well as recommendations or prescriptions.

Downloaded files are saved on your device by default. Their storage time depends on your preferences.

b) Information obtained by us when you use the App

We collect the information about the use of the App via the Firebase tool (the Firebase Crashlytics service, Firebase Cloud Messaging) and Google Analytics, provided by Google LLC.

We collect information about your device and your activities within the App. Such information includes the type of device and its operating system, the version of the App, the language used on your device, recoded clicks on the App’s elements, the types of screens displayed in the App, text phrases entered in the speciality finder and the approximate location of your device.

We store such data on the server for 3 months, primarily in order to improve the operation of the App and detect errors. All information is anonymous and not linked to a given user.

II. What security measures do we use within the App?

In order to protect your data while you use the App, we have implemented encryption mechanisms that ensure the security of the data transmitted between our systems and the App.

You can also activate an additional security measure, i.e. two-step verification (two-factor authentication), to strengthen the security in respect of logging in to the App.

Remember to properly secure the device on which you install the App, to keep your password to the App confidential and to avoid sharing such a password with anyone.

III. Which functions of the device does the App have access to?

If you give your consent, the App will gain access to certain functions and your device. Such functions may vary depending on the type of operating system installed on your device.

  • calendar (reminders about appointments entered in the calendar);
  • notifications and Bluetooth® (to allow you to confirm a booked appointment using a beacon technology while visiting a given medical facility);
  • biometrics (for biometric login – if you choose this option);
  • camera and photo gallery (to enable you to change your avatar and to upload photos during a chat with a doctor);
  • location (to indicate medical facilities near you);
  • camera and microphone (for a video-chat with a doctor);
  • functions related to phone calls (when you contact the Medicover Hot Line or call a doctor using the “Call now” feature);
  • memory (when you share documents or download medical records to your device).

IV. Blocking the App’s access to the functions of your device

If you use the App on a device running on the iOS operating system, you do not have the possibility to block the App’s access to the functions of your device. If you wish to block said access, it is necessary to uninstall the App.

If you use the App on an Android device, you can block or unblock the App’s access to the functions of your device at any time by changing the app settings in the Android system.
