On Friday October 21st, at a meeting with the representatives of leading media, we presented the results of the second edition of Medicover report “Work. Health. Economy. 2011-2015 Perspective”.
The second edition of Medicover report: Work. Health. Economy. 2011-2015 Perspective
The report provides a detailed insight into the major health problems and factors that influence absence from work. It has been prepared on the basis of the medical data of several hundred thousand employees whose care is taken by Medicover, thus making it a reliable picture of the health of Polish workforce. Simultaneously, the report is also a diagnosis of the health risks that can be prevented so that they do not become a cause of serious diseases in the future.

The key part of the report covers the analysis of the economic aspects of diseases. Their total cost depends primarily on the type of a disease and its frequency, the presence of any complications, and – what is important – the access to quick diagnostics and effective treatment. Once again, we have proved that the employer whose employees are taken care of by Medicover makes savings on the costs of diseases – as much as 623 PLN per each employee in a year. We have also managed to show that if all employees in Poland were treated within the model of care used by Medicover, the total savings in the economy would be more than 10 billion PLN per year!

We also have evidence that the high quality of medical care actually translates into years of saved lives. Our calculations show that if all patients with hypertension in Poland were treated within our model of care, it would be possible to prevent the loss of nearly 3.5 million of years of lives. It is equal to saving the whole town of the population of 45,000 people.

The results of the report enjoyed great attention of the media – the journalists who attended the meeting watched the presentation with interest, and asked our experts to comment on the presented issues.
