The Electronic System for In-School Medical Care

30.09.2019
(ESMS - Elektroniczny System Medycyny Szkolnej ) is a tool that streamlines periodic health check-ups to obtain information on the child's state of health and to provide it to parents in the form of a report.

After implementation in Gdynia in the 2018/2019 school year, other municipalities are also launching the system, including the Milanówek municipality in the Mazovian region and the Syców municipality near Wrocław.

What are the benefits for parents?

Thanks to ESMS, parents receive from the school nurse a personal, detailed report on their child’s state of health in the form of an electronic printout, along with recommendations for further steps in the event of any problems.

What tests are performed?

In addition to the standard check-up tests conducted at school in the nurse's/school hygienist's office, there are 3 additional tests (cardiovascular and respiratory fitness assessment, i.e. a 3-minute cardio test, weight and body composition assessment using a bioimpedance scale, and body posture assessment with a scoliometer, as well as an examination using a computer podoscope for detecting flatfoot), which will give a better picture of the child's state of health.
