All women aged 20+ should have regular gynaecological check-ups and undergo preventive examinations. In the case of infertility, one of the basic tests is to check the patency of fallopian tubes and the uterus for adhesions, which may impede the fertilization process. Unfortunately, the often complicated testing methods and the need to stay in hospital, discourage the patient from undergoing necessary diagnostic tests, such as testing for the presence of polyps.
How is SonoFlow used in examinations? In an effort to alleviate the above issues, our centres are now offering sonohysterosalpingography – i.e. the evaluation of the uterine cavity and patency of fallopian tubes. It is a modern and non-invasive way to perform these types of procedures by using the SonoFlow device. The test helps identify the presence of polyps or fibroids, which can sometimes be confused with clotted blood, and is an alternative method to radiographic hysterosalpingography.
What is unique about this method of testing?- It is simple, non-invasive, and painless.
- It is safe because it does not require anaesthesia, and the substance that is administered to the body is only harmless saline.
- It can be done during a gynaecological visit, if ultrasound is available at the doctor's office.
- The procedure does not require an anaesthetic, analgesic drugs or contrast solutions – therefore, any hospitalisation is not required, and the patient receives the results right after the test is completed.
The examination should be performed in the first half of the cycle, or after menstruation. Moreover, at the time of booking the appointment, the patient must have recent Pap smear test result, which cannot be more than 30 days old.
