Treatment of varicose veins in lower limb

Do you want your legs to always be healthy and beautiful and look as good as they can? If you do, then varicose veins and broken capillaries may stand in your way. They are not only a cosmetic and aesthetic issue, but also a health problem. Here at Medicover, we offer the most advanced treatment for removing broken capillaries and varicose veins using an RF-based method. Procedures using this method enable patients to avoid pain and disfiguring scars. The method is characterised by high effectiveness and low risk of complications.

Laser surgery for varicose veins of the lower limb involves closing the affected vein using laser techniques under epidural anaesthesia or under general anaesthesia. After puncturing the great saphenous vein, a fibreoptic device is advanced into the vessel and the vein is coagulated under sonographic guidance, using the laser to irradiate the walls of the vessel from the inside. This method is used in the treatment of larger varicose veins. After the procedure a compression stocking is placed on the limb that has been operated on.

The basic laboratory tests and imaging studies are included in the price of the procedure:

  • AB0 and Rh blood typing,
  • complete blood cell count,
  • basic serum biochemistry (sodium, potassium, glucose),
  • ECG,
  • other tests — depending on the patient's health, the underlying disease and co-morbidities (other diseases the patient might be suffering from) — e.g. bleeding time, coagulation time, urea, creatinine, hormones, urinalysis, X-rays.

A few days before the procedure or after admission on the day of the procedure the anaesthetist talks to the patient to evaluate the risk of anaesthesia, assess the patient's current condition, review the test results and, if necessary, order further tests.
