Proctologists deal with the treatment of conditions occurring in the final section of the gastrointestinal tract, namely the large intestine and the rectum. These may be conditions of inflammatory or neoplastic nature. A proctologist should be consulted for any of the following symptoms:

  • gastric problems – constipation, stool incontinence problems, gases;
  • a sensation of distention;
  • sudden and acute pains in the gastrointestinal tract;
  • purulent exudations from the rectum and visible purulent lesions in the area, bleeding, blood in stool
